Table of Context Page Numbers are incorrect

R

Ron

Hi, I am inserting a table of context into a document. I am separating
chapter of the document (identified by Heading 1 style) into it's own section
since I am changing the headers/footer of each chapter. In the footer page
number, I am using the Chapter / Heading 2 in the page number display. Eg.
1.3-xx

In the table of context the page number of the Heading 1 title shows the
chapter from the previous section rather than chaptet number of the current
chapter.

I'm sure I'm doing some simple wrong, but I can't figure out how to fix
this. I have place a portion of the TOC below, with the problem highlighted.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ron

Word's TOC feature collects information from the document . So
troubleshooting must begin there? Are the page numbers correct on the pages
in the text? And are all the text headings correctly numbered?

Hi PamC, Yes the page number in the footer are correct for the page and the
headings are correctly numbered. The TOC extract I pulled from my document
show that the headings are correctly numbered, but only the page number on
the first Heading 1 of the chapter are incorrect.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks, Ron

When you hyperlink back to a heading level 1 location, does it take you to
the page before? And is at the cursor at the section break? If your section
break shows up in the heading 1 style, change the style to normal, then
update the TOC.

Hope that helps.

Hi PamC,

The TOC hyperlink takes me right to the heading 1 location on the correct
page. The section break is not tied to the heading style. I tried changing
the heading to normal, updated the TOC, then back to heading 1. No change in
the behavior.

The prior page is an odd page, and this page with the heading is also an odd
page, so I added additional lines in so the prior page is an even page. No
change in the TOC behavior.

I tried adding a normal line before the Heading 1 line. No change in the TOC
behavior.

This is really frustrating. I'm out of ideas of what could be causing this
problem. It has to be something I have configured. I'm just not sure what it
is.

Any other ideas? Thanks, Ron

Look for continuous section breaks before the heading 1s. Check that the same
as previous is set to not same as previous. If this doesn't help, I'm out of
ideas.
