table of figures

I have created a table of figures using captions. The captions are numbering
themselves and I have a couple of figures that need to be numbered as -a and
-b with same number. I look at 'auto caption' and nothing is checked off. I
have created Figure 19 which I then change to caption to read 19a. I then
try to create 19b, but the number is Figure 20. I overridge 20 with 19b and
update the table of figures. Figure 19a is listed and figure 19b is not
pulling in?

Here's one way:

1. Type "Figure 19-a" and "Figure 19-b" instead of trying to use SEQ
fields (inserted via the Caption dialog box).

2. For the following caption, add the \r switch to force it to restart
at the correct value: { SEQ Figure \r 20 }.

3. Add TC fields for 19-a and 19-b: { TC "Figure 19-a" \l 1 \f "t" } and
{ TC "Figure 19-b" \l 1 \f "t" }.

4. Add the \f "t" switch to the TOC field, so that it looks similar to:
{ TOC \c "Figure" \t "f" }.

5. Update the table of figures.
