Table of Figures

I have created a table of figures. I have 50 + figures. My have numbers that start with 1 and I would like to change the numbers to start with 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc...Is that possible to chage the number now..I don't want to create a new captions now.

Question before I answer - is this related to your chapters? Do you have numbered chapters?
