Table Position on page relative to footer

S

Stephan Laska

I want to position my table so that the bottom edge
of the table is even with the bottom margin of the page.
the table is not static, ie: on different iterations of the
document the table will add rows.

File->PageSetup margins are all 0.5" all around

Table properties, table tab, vertical position...
I've tried top, bottom, center, inside, outside,
relative to page, margin, paragraph

I've only been able to get the table where I wanted by
picking a vertical position the proper distance on the page.
this needs to be changed each time I adjust the table.
is there a better way of doing this?

how do i position the table

In the Table Positioning dialog box, setting the vertical position to
"Bottom" relative to "Margin" should work. If it doesn't, do the
following: Turn of text wrapping for the table. Select it and, on the
Forms toolbar, click the Insert Frame button; Word wraps a frame
around the table. On the Format menu, click Frame. Set the vertical
position to "Bottom" relative to "Margin." Click OK.

Correction: Of course, I meant to write "turn OFF text wrapping."

First all, thanks for your help.
yes, it does work. what wasn't obvious (to me, or anyone here at the office)
is that the bottom margin setting doesn't accommodate any footer appearing
on
that page, so the table was superimposed on the footer.

Glad I could help.

And, yes, a footer with "too much" text in it will expand, pushing the
page contents upwards, but it won't actually change the bottom margin.
If footers are big through-out the document (or section), consider
increasing the bottom margin.
