I put the cursor in the first cell and hit ctrl and enter
(insert a page break). This inserts a page break and
gives you a paragraph marker at the top of the page.
Insert your text and then delete the page break and the
table is back on the page with text before it.

There may be another easier way to do it. But this way
works for me.

The easier way is simply to press Enter at the very beginning of the table.
