Table refresh in a shared database

L

Lori

I am using an Access 97 shared database on a network.
Multiple users (never more than 4 at a time) have this
database open at the same time. When records are added by
any other user other than myself, I cannot see this record
added into the table, even when I refresh the records and
open and close the table. I verified the records are not
locked. I can see new records that I add only, but none
that any other user adds. The only way I can see these
records added to the table by another user, is when I
completely close the database and reopen it.

This isn't very effective as we all need to see the data
when its added. Any suggestions? I have checked to make
sure the DB is shared and the refresh intervals are set to
under a minute.

Thanks!

It is not split. How do you split it? I am using a form
to look at the data, even though I have also opened the
table directly and the new records are not displayed in
the table either. I have tried the Shift F9 to refresh
and it has no effect. This database is stored on a shared
network drive and each user has a shortcut to it on our
PC. Any advice?

thanks!

Tools>>Database Utilities>>Database Splitter

Make a backup copy first!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once split, put a copy of the Front-end on each user's machine. If the
links are not correct, change them via Tools>>Database Utilities>>Linked
Table manager, and browse to the shared folder via Network Neighborhood/My
Network Places.

Post back if you need more help.

Hi Kevin,

I followed the steps and I think I might have it working.
Am I correct in that, with the split database, in order to
see added records from another user (added while I have
the db open), I need to press Shift F9 to see those new
records in the form in which they are displayed and
entered?

Thanks for you help!

If you and I both have the same form open, and I add a record, you will not
see it until the form is refreshed/requeried somehow. The data is static
after is has been pulled to populate your form, before you change anything.
