Table Rules

I create tables for Report and Accounts documents that have 20mm wide cells for the figures. I need to put total rules under some of these cells that are 17mm long and roughly 6pt below figure. If I use the border command I get a 20mm rule. I am unable to indent the border rule by 3mm. At the moment I am having to create 2 cells, one of 17mm and one of 3mm in order to get a total rule the correct length. Is there any way of creating a 17mm rule under figures within a 20mm cell?

The only other suggestion I can come up with is to use an underscore tab
leader in a paragraph below the figure in the same cell. You can adjust the
spacing for the paragraph & line & define it as a style. [I haven't worked
through it, though... I'm on my way to catch a plane :)]

Duh! I'm making this harder than it need be :)

Click in the cell with the with the total & when you go to the Format>
Borders & Shading dialog set your border style. Then open the Apply To list,
choose Paragraph then click the Options button to adjust the Bottom spacing
from text. When you OK out adjust the Left Indent to set the length of the
rule. This can all be defined in a Style as well if you need to apply it
consistently for other totals.
