Table Summing Formula from MVPS.ORG website not work in Word2003?

I am working in Word2003 on XP and trying to reproduce the twin-table
solution presented at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/TotalColumn.htm

The total fields remain resolutely blank. Alt_F9 show me that the formulas
are correct and in their place. All I have changed is the column letters to
D. I have a four column table and assume that columns are referenced as A
to D?

I put prices into the Table 1 columns and click F9. Nothing shows - no
errors, no digits nothing.

I then removed the closing ;''" from the formula in the hope of getting
0.00 to show. Nothing happened.

Can anyone out there advise me what I could look at here. Is there something
obvious I have missed?

OK, OK, I am an idiot.

However, the above mentioned page should really mention that we put an equal
sign "=" in front of the formula and within the curly brackets. ;-)
