Table trouble

Greetings learned friends,
Let me thank you now for any time you take to help me out.
I sincerly appreciate it. I'm not looking for the step by
step, just the flavour would be sufficient...
I have a table of sports results for 2002 with 3 essential
fields: TournamentName, PlayerName, PlayerRank (each
competitor's finishing place for each tournament). There
are several hundred players and 40+ tournaments for 2002.
All players do not take part in every tournament. I would
like to browse results for pairs of players. Perhaps like
this: select player1 form a dropdown list, select player2
from a dropdown list limited to players that did compete
against player1. The outcome of the selected pair would be
a list of tournaments where they met and the coresponding
tournament result rank, eg:

Player47
