Table

The table that I have generated in Excell is much larger than the screen and
when I scroll to the right side, the columns to the left disappear, which I
looking to keep the first column in place.
Could anyone tell me how to make the first column to the laft not to goes
out of screen while I scroll to the rest of the table to the right.

In Excel 07:
Go to View, click Freeze Panes, click Freeze First Column

In Excel 03:
Click Column A to select the whole column, click on Windows, and click on
Freeze Panes.

Did you try the same process as Excel 03?

No, I don't have the 03 version.
I know 97 has this option as well, and I used it in the past, but I have
forgotten how it was.

Toast's suggestion is incorrect.

Select B1 to freeze column A

Select B2 to freeze column A and row 1

This is for Excel 97 through 2003

If you wish to freeze the top 2 rows and the left hand two columns, select
cell C3, then go to the Window menu and select "Freeze Panes".
In general, select the cell below the rows you wish to freeze, and to the
right of the columns you wish to freeze, then go to the Window menu and
select "Freeze Panes".

Are you trying to tell us that in your Excel 97 you can't find the Window
menu, or that on the Window menu you can't see the menu item "Freeze Panes"?

That's exactly correct. What I'm trying to tell you is that in Excel 97 I
can't find the Window menu, or that on the Window menu I can't see the menu
item "Freeze Panes".

Well if you don't know whether you can't find the Window menu, or whether
you do have a Window menu on which you can't see the menu item "Freeze
Panes", there's not much likelihood that we can help you.
