tables in Word Viewer

A Word document that includes a table (gridlines are off)
that is viewed in Word Viewer. My problem is that the
Veiwer shows the gridlines. Does anyone have an idea on
how to turn these off?

The Word Viewer is trying to imitate Word itself. In Word, when table
gridlines are off they are still visible as grey lines.

Use the Borders and Shading dialog box to change the border colour to White.
This will make the lines seem invisible.

I think there is some misunderstanding here. When "gridlines are off," that
is, when the Table menu shows Show Gridlines rather than Hide Gridlines, you
should not see (solid gray) gridlines in Normal view. You will see dotted
cell boundaries in Print Layout view if you have "Text boundaries" enabled
on the View tab of Tools | Options. Otherwise, you should not be seeing any
lines at all unless a border is applied. Please note the distinction between
a border and gridlines:
