My network administrators recently changed the hardware for our Network Drive
that contains many databases with which I work, along with a few other
individuals in my office.
Prior to this change the databases, which still were on a Network Drive,
would open the tables very quickly -- essentially instantaneously.
Now when I "click on" the table in Access (a local table in the database,
not a linked table), I must wait approx. 70 seconds for it to open.
The database itself opens rather quickly.
This performance problem occurs even when I am the only person in the office
accessing the database.
I am using MS Office Access 2003 (11.8166.8172) SP3. My desktop PC has
Windows XP Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 : Service Pack 2).
Does anyone have any idea what I might be able to do to reduce the time
required to open tables? (It seems to happen with all tables, linked as well
as local.)
