The spacing of lines of text in different columns of my table changes arbitrarily from box to box despite the original table being produced at the same time. I have tried highlighting the whole document and resetting what I can change but it makes no difference. Is there some sort of invisible formatting that I can't reach?

Hi Diane -

This is most likely the same circumstance as what you wrote about in your
other post on Line Spacing - especially if the difference you're seeing
involves some lines where the return key has been used as opposed to others
where the text wraps to more than one line... Line spacing v. Spacing
Between Paragraphs.
