TabletPC - Ink Conversion to Text

K

When Ink was first being touted I watched many demos where someone wrote in
ink and they highlighted it then converted it to text. So I finally talked
the president of the company into buying one as he's not a typer and sold him
on this idea. When we finally got it, it does not perform as the demo
showed; write a sentence, right click, convert to text, spell check, bold,
italicize.... etc.

Have I just not been keeping up or am I missing something?

XP Tablet 2K5 and Office Pro System 2K3.

Thanks

Hi Kamaluokeakua,

You may want to also post this in the Tablet PC
newsgroup (links below).

Bob,

Thought it was more of an Office Issue as the demo I saw was in Office not

Well, its somewhat of an integration feature. Word 2003
supports certain ink functions with Tablet PC versions
of Windows XP, including annotations and notes
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/tabletpc.mspx
for conversion of notes to text and then sending to Word
it may have been an Office 2003 OneNote demo
http://www.microsoft.com/office/onenote/prodinfo/demo.mspx

There are some tweaks that seem to help and the folks in the
TabletPC area are sometimes better tuned into things that work
on these :) WIthout the Tablet PC Word 2003 still supports
handwriting using either the Writing Pad or Write-Anywhere
and the conversion to text appearance will be different if
you select the 'text' tool or the 'ink' tool on the Write Anywhere
toolbar. If you right click on an Ink object is there an
Ink Object item in the right click menu?

Bob,

Thought it was more of an Office Issue as the demo I saw was in Office not
on the TabletPC per se. The functionality in the demo was in Word. >>
