tabs and bullets

hey guys ~ when I tab, the bullet used to follow along with the tab
like this [pretending the astrix is the tab]

* shareholder litigation
* the investors . . . .

however, now, it stays to the left, like this . . .

* shareholder litigation
* the investors

it stays like that even though i tab. what do I do???

You have probably fallen into the tarpit known as Bullets and Numbering.

Before exposing you to the full horror of your situation, it would be
helpful to know what version of Macintosh Office you are using.
Also helpful would be knowing how much you depend on your bullets, how
much numbering you have in your document and how you propose to deliver

your finished work.

Microsoft made a truly baroque and powerful numbering system and
subsumed bullets into it, but somebody must have panicked before
shipping time, and exposed it only with a Tonka Toy user interface. So
now you can get into the mess with the greatest of ease. But, once you
are stuck.....

Try this:
Word | Preferences | Edit--make sure "tabs and backspace set left
indent" is checked.
