I'm using Excel 97 and I don't find the tabs on the bottom
of a spreadsheet that I opened. Are tabs used on this
version of Excel. If there are how can I display them.

Tools>Options in the menubar (View tab)
You can turn it on or of there

Yes, Tabs are used in XL97.

Tools>Options>View "Sheet Tabs".
