Tags for PowerPoint objects

I have seen mention that VBA can be used to "tag" objects on
a PowerPoint slide. Is this "tagging" feature also available
while simply creating an object (e.g., a rectangle with black borders
and red fill) using PP's drawing tools (i.e.,
without having to resort to VBA)? - Thanks
