Takes ages and fails to send and receive

Hi,

I have a computer here running XP Pro SP2 with all updates, along with
Office 2003 with all updates (including SP2). Occasionally (maybe once
or twice a day), Outlook will sit there saying it's sending and
receiving, but won't actually do anything. After a few minutes, it
will time out. It only happens on this computer out of about 300.
What could it be? Tried all the usual things relating to the pst
(scanpst, slim down, compact, deleted outcmd.dat etc etc). Turned on
logging, but the log shows nothing - it's as if Outlook doesn't even
try to contact the mailserver. There is no firewall enabled on the
computer, and I've tried disabling the antivirus. I've tried
recreating the accounts, and Messenger integration too.

Any more ideas?

Neil

Oh, and closing and reopening outlook fixes this problem. It's not a
perfect solution though, as the user usually has loads of outlook
windows open and using them all, having to close outlook interrupts the
work quite a lot.

Neil.
