Taking out double spacing after paragraphs in very large documents

K

Kathy

I have taken a new position where I am sent files from
outside transcriptionists. When I open these files, it
is my job to take out all the double spaces between the
paragraphs. For some reason, it is how it needs to be
sent over from the in-house transcriptionist. I need to
take the double spacing out for the coders in-house to
read these files online in our clinic. It is hard to
explain but I am not sure how to do this. If can't
select single spacing because for some reason when I
highlight the entire document and hit single space, it
doesn't do a thing. The information within each
paragraph is already single spaced. I just need the
double space between each paragraph made into single
space.

I have also tried used the find and replace. It only
recognizes letters or symbols. It doesn't recognize my
returns.

Right now a majority of my time on the job is being spent
calling up documents online in the clinic and manually
taken out all the double spaces between each paragraph.
This is a very time-wasting procedure to me. I only have
WordPerfect at home, so I cannot do my usual trial and
error attempts to finding out what the answer is.

If you could just tell me an easy way to be able to call
up each document and get rid of the double spaces
swiftly, I wouuld be so happy, not to mentioned so much
more efficient at work!

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Kathy,

CTRL+Shift+8 to display formatting marks. If it is really two paragraph
marks, your can remove them using Edit>Replace. Type ^13^13 in the find
what field and ^p in the replace with field and hit replace all.
