Task back link not present

T

Tom S.

I've been creating tasks from OneNote using the "Insert -> Outlook Task"
command in Beta 2. I'm using OL 2003. As I understand it, there should be a
backlink to the OneNote entry embedded in the notes section of the newly
created OL task. Unfortunately this is not the case. Only the text of the
OneNote paragraph from which the task was created appears there. Any idea
what I might have wrong here?

Thanks,
Tom S.

I do not understand it either. And do not understand it.
I just assume that OL2003 might not be ready for using ON.

Correct. Outlook 2003 does not work with OneNote 2007 Beta 2. This is
fixed in later internal MS builds.

Actually this is something I've been looking for as well. I'm actually
running OL07 with ON07 and there's no link from the task back to onenote. You
can right click on the little flag in onenote and choose the optiont to open
the outlook task, but there's nothing in the outlook task, that I've been
able to find, that will take you back to the onenote page where it was
created. This tends to make it somewhat difficut to identify which notebook
page it's associated with, especially if you have a lot like i do. They
implemented it very nicely, back and forth for the calendar items, so I was
hoping this was just an oversight, that may be corrected before 12 is
released.

Too bad.
I had really hoped that OneNote might finally make the "Tasks" feature
in Outlook usable ...
That's one of the things I'm so seriously missing my good old Lotus
Organizer.

The same on my side.
What I would really need would be a system of linking texts and other
stuff to tasks in order to make that availble in Outlook.
They implemented it very nicely, back and forth
for the calendar items, so I was hoping this was just an

If it's not there now, I seriously doubt that we will see it in the
final.

Hi Rainald,

Did you see the post by Ilya that missing links from tasks to ON are a
bug in B2? Ilya is on the MS ON team.

I'm sorry.
Obviously I missed that.
Thanks for the relief!

You're welcome. It would help if all ON team members always indicated
that they are MS in their nicks when posting here. I happened to
recognize the name...
