Task Delay

Hi,

I have TaskZ that was supposed to start on 7/10/09. However, due to other
projects the task has been delayed a few days. Then they were supposed to
work on it on 7/13/09 and then they told me it had to be put on hold until
7/17/09. Then they notified me that they haven't started working on it
because the resource was sick and the new potential start is 7/24/09.

Question: How should I handle the update for this task?

Thanks

Hi Jaime

Jan has suggested how to show the latest status.

But, if you are planning to show all the intermediate status details for
reporting delay analysis, these steps would help.
1. Before changing the initial status 7/10/09, save Start/Finish as
Start1/Finish1, through Tools > Tracking > set baseline > set interim plan
2. Similar before changing the 2nd status i.e 7/13/09 save Start/Finish as
Start2/Finish2
3. Follow these staeps with each update. So your latest update for all
activities would be shown in Start/Finish and previous updates in
Start1/Finish1 upto Start3/Finish3.
4. To compare all these status together either insert data field columns for
these information or create bars for last 3 updates also through Bar Styles
and have different rows for these bars.

I hope it helps.

Thank you both:

Here is a mistake on my part. The task was originally scheduled to start
on 8/10/09 -- due to task dependencies. I have since realized that because
this task is outside of my resources, I really need to have it unlinked
(independent), right? That's how those things are handled right?

So, they told me it was going to start on 7/10/09, then 7/13/09 then 7/17/09
and now potentially 7/24/09. Should I update stuff by copying start and
finish into fields
start1 and start2 and startX and FinishX as suggested by Vanita?

Thank you.
