Task displays as New Task when I am not a resource for the task

On the "My Tasks" page, I am showing several tasks with the green ! and New
next to it. However, I am not a resource for the task. So why is it showing
as New on My Tasks?

What name do you see in the columns "Resource Name"? Might be that you are
set as the defautl assignment owner for the resource that is assigned to the
task. Or that you published the task and the resource you assigned didn't
have a default assignment owner so it automatically used you as the
assignment owner.

Yes-it is the case that I am the Assignment Owner. Can you tell me what it
means to be the Assignment Owner? If this is the project that I am doing the
PM on-why would I NOT be the Assignment Owner?

Gail,

Enterprise Work Resources should be their own assignment owner, it is the
field used to determine who receives the assignment when the project is
published to the Server - if this field is left blank the assignments are
sent to the Project Owner. There are some instances where creating new
resources or users results in this field being left blank.

Thank you for the information. I agree that I need some further education.
And I will pursue it. Any suggestions for online courses?

Great-thank you! One last question-Why does my Home Page say I have 17 new
tasks assigned to me, but when I go to My Tasks, no tasks are identified as
New and I have opened the Assignment Detail of each task and I still show 17
new tasks. (I promise to get some training!)

Gail:

In the My Tasks page, expose the view options at the top of the page and
uncheck the box to display "Current Tasks Only." This will cause the page to
display all of your tasks. Here you may find the answer. If you have new
tasks that are assigned into the future, or in the past for that matter,
they will not display under the current tasks view.
