task duration

I need to create a task that starts on Jan 1st and ends on Dec 31st. Actual
hours will be reported to this task, but not starting on Jan 1st

How to anchor task's start and end day so it won't be affected by actual
reported later then planned start day?

Type the name of of the task and set a Start No Earlier Than constraint of
1/31 on the task. Enter a Duration for the task that causes it to finish on
12/31. Make the task Fixed Duration. Insert the Actual Start column in any
task view and enter 1/31 as the Actual Start date of the task to "lock" it.
