Task duration

I have a 3-day task for one resource.

However, if I add another resource, I want Project to automatically trim
down the duration to 1.5 days.

How should I go about doing that?

Makethe task Fixed Units, Effort Driven. (Window/Split...) it is the bottom
window. Check the effort driven box. Now, adding resources divides the
**remaining work ** among all resources present in accordance with their
assigned percentages. Task duration decreases.

Ensure that the task type is fixed work and it should occur automatically.

If you are adding another resource name to the task - ie, Joe is assigned
and you're adding Bill - marking it "effort driven" before adding the
resource will do it. If you're changing the assignment percentage - you
have "Carpenters, 100%" assigned and you're making it "Carpenters, 200%" -
mark the task "fixed work" before doing the edit.
