Task fields Resource fields

I have multiple projects and have published them in PS using a global
resource pool.
The subprojects in each project are basically a Part going through tasks
which has a resource assigned to it.
I would like to put that Part number in a field to report on later. The
report would break down by grouping Resource then having the name of the task
and the Part number plus start and end.
I have tried populating Text1 in the Gantt chart view but these do not show
up in Resource Usage view. They are 2 different Text1 fields.
Is there way to do this? I am trying to use PWA and no view will help me. I
have also tried just with Project. It also looks like the Analyzer won't help
either but my eyes are becoming crossed.
Help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Adam,

This you can not achieve with Project leve text or whatevery type
fields. In that case you can not see these fields in any of PWA views.
So please create a task level Enterprise Custom Field and use in the
project. Am not sure what version of Project Server you are using, so
I can not direct you with steps.

Hope this helps a bit to initiate things.

Thanks,
Ravi.

Thank you for the reply Ravi.
This is Windows 2000 Server SP1 with Project 2003 Server SP1. I hope this
information helps. I have tried to simplify my problem below.

I have not been able to get a Enterprise task field to show up in the
Resource center View Assignment. Perhaps I am missing something!

I would like a task field to show up in the Resource center view because in
PWA this seems to be the only place I can group Resource Assignments by their
tasks.

Outside of PWA, in Project
I have added my field to the Gantt chart in a project, populated it and the
switched to Task Usage view and been able to group my data by Resource, which
shows each task plus my text field.

Am I missing something in PWA?

Thanks again,
Adam

Hello Adam,

Enterprise Task fields can not be added to any of Resource Center
view. The resource center views can show up Enterprise Resource Fields
in it.
On the Assignment views (note that here Resource Center views are
different than Assignment views, and I hope you got this), you can add
those Enterprise Task Fields.
First of all, on Project Professional, open Enterprise Global. From
Tools menu, Customize option, choose Enterprise Fields. Here add a
Task level text or cost or... field that you need. Save and close
Enterprise Global. Once after this, you need to go to PWA, under
Admini tab, go to Manage Views. Here select the view under Assignment
and modify it to add this Enterprise Task Field.

Those fields that you create out of Enterprise Global (meaning, those
you create on Project Level) cant be added on PWA views.

Hope this makes it clear.

Thanks,
Ravi
