task finished early on an exact date

I want to end a task early on an exact date as opposed to changing my Actual
Work and Remaining Work. I'd like that option because it's not always quick
to calculate the Actual Work but sometimes I know the exact day a task
finished. I say it's not always easy to calculate because of multiple
resources working differnt hours on a task.
I think the easiest way is probably change the end date?
