task for a year with 5% resource load - possible to create ???

We have several support projects. We know that resources in such projectts
will work with the limited loading, for example 5% during the whole year. How
to create such a task ???

I created one but after reporting on this task the beginning of it was
shifted to the period when I began to report.

Please help.

Use a fixed-duration task and set the actual start date on the task to
anchor it.

Gary,

I have tried this and it appeared to work until resources charged
actual hours later than the manually applied actual start date
(1/3/2005). After that the end date continues to move out to the right
and sometimes the Units become some enormous number (64000%). We tried
using a Must Finish On constraint which only spouted errors when the
end date exceeded the constrain date (12/20/2005).

Adjusting the assignment end date in the Task Usage view only makes
things really go haywire - the duration increases as well.

Is there a setting in the Calculation Options that could be causing
this?

For the record, we are running Pro 2003 (sp1) with PWA on Windows
Server 2003.

Any ideas would be gratefully accepted.

Don't give them the ability to change a start date. These tasks should not
be effort driven as this can cause strange behavior unless you understand
how this drives the scheduling algorithm.
