Task Info with External Tasks

I've created a "project" on the MSP 2003 server which basically
consists of links to important milestones from other projects. The
only info that seems to come with the linked tasks is the "Project"
field info (i.e. the project_name.published). I'd like to see other
info related to the projects of the linked tasks (e.g. the "project
state" - which is an enterprise custom outline code with choices such
as proposed, active, etc.).

Is the "project" field the only field that "comes with" externally
linked tasks? Is there any way get info from other fields to come with
them?

It sounds like you'd be better off working this out as a custom report

Unfortunately, I don't know how to create custom reports, so I'm
limited to trying to get what I need within the constraints of the
functionality provided by MSP. I have your both of your books, but
don't see anything in them referrencing creating custom reports. Any
suggestions on where I might find such info?

I'm talking about using Access to create data access pages (DAP) or SQL
reporting services to report against the database.
