Hi Gang,
We currently use Project Central, with each team member booking their Act
Work on a weekly basis via the P Central timesheet. One of the
"characteristics" that we encountered, was that, owing to cultural apathy,
people would continue to book against a task which they were not supposed to,
even after their Remaining Hours had reached zero. To counter this, we wrote
a VB macro to be able to selectively "remove" the task from their timesheet.
It's a manual process to execute the removal. We are thinking of upgrading to
Project Server...and the question is this: As part of "out-of-the-box"
functionality, are we able to automatically "lock-out" the ability to book to
a task when Remaining Hours has reached zero, or give us a standard
"procedure" to lock-out a task at the time of our choosing. I know that each
person can filter the tasks on their timesheet...but it also means that they
can un-filter them.
I appreciate that I'll probably receive a series of lectures about proper
project management and cultural education....but we have concluded that the
only way to stop things happening, is to gently coerce them. Hopefully
they'll soon learn that, regardless of their reluctance, they MUST put fuel
into their car in order to get anywhere.
Thanks for any advice
