Task not interrupted by 'non-working time'

Hello all,

I have a problem with tasks where I want the task to be not interrupte
by 'non-working time'.
Let me try to explain. I have several tasks with a duration of 2 day
that all are linked to eachother (FS). These are chemical processe
that have to be monitored by a person. The resource (person) has
standard calendar, meaning that he/she does not work weekends. So, m
problem really is that if a task is planned to start on a friday i
should be postponed till monday so that the person can monitor it for
consecutive 'working days'.

I know i can manualy put a constraint on it but I want it automated.
It would be no problem if anyone points me in the direction o
VBA-code, but I was wondering if MS Project tasks have a setting tha
already takes care of that.
Any help will be appreciated.

My second question to you all is how I can easily unsplit all task
that have been manualy split (I find this less important, but woul
also appreciate any input).

Kind regards,

Joh

Hi John,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Create a task with a short duration, say 1 hour. Create a new calendar that
has only one hour working time that starts one hour earlier than the
standard calendar for a single hour every Monday to Thursday mornings, say
0700 to 0800 each of those days. Now assign that calendar as a Task
calendar to your one-hour task. Now link that task to sit between your
special task and its predecessor. Then, when the predecessor finishes, the
next task will start at 0700 the next day and the special task will start at
0800 and if it is Friday, it will begin on the next Monday as requested. I
haven't actually tried this out, but it should work, and anyway it gives you
the basic idea.

I don't know of a generic way to unsplit all tasks at once, but I'm sure
this can be done with vba - in which case try posting on the server
newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project Newsgroups. FAQs, companion
products and other useful Project information can be seen at this web
address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Mike,

Thanks a lot for this solution. It works like a charm. And indeed thi
gives me more ideas on how to manipulate task start times.

About the unsplitting of tasks I will look into VBA. I alread
suspected that there will be an easy solution.

Regards,

Joh
