Task progress

I'm more used to using Primavera, but I've been scheduling projects for some
time now. One issue I have is task progress. In P3, when a task is started
and not progressed, as the data date moves, the task end date moves, assuming
the remaining duration (either calculated or posted) is accurate.

In MSP, the start and end dates seem to just sit there, and remaining
duration is not an available field to post. I can post 99% complete on the
first day of a 60-day task, and the end date sits there. Any advice? Am I
looking in the wrong place?

Jim,
You can insert the Remaining Duration column in any table :
Insert / Column....

If you want that Project calculates the Remaining Duration according to the
Status Date :
Tools / Options / Calculation /
and test all the combinations for the following options :
- Move end of completed parts after status date back to status date
- and move start of remaining parts back to status date
- Move start of remaining parts before status date...
- and move end...

NB : set the Status Date via Project /Project information....
