Task Rejected by PM

Some time ago one of our PM rejected Actuals because they were booked to a
wrong task. At that point the task hasn’t started yet.

However now the resource needs to book his time to the project and even he
updates all, the Actuals are not send for approval. The massage he receives
is “The new task has been declined by the manager.â€

How can we correct this?

Unless I'm missing something the error message sounds like the task was
originally defined on a timesheet by the user with actual work, submitted for
approval and rejected by the PM. It did not therefore actually exist in the
plan. If this is the case, add the task to the plan, assign the appropriate
resources to the task and then Collaborate/Publish/Republish Assignments for
just the task. It will push the assignment data out to the timesheet.

The resource needs to change the actuals that he/she entered and then
resubmit them to the PM. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

I know this sound like a very simple problem. I did quiet a lot of reading
before I decided to post the problem on the web because it seamed so silly.
The thing is that the obvious solution is not working.

It happened on one of my admin plans but also on 2 non admin plans. The task
is in the plan, the resource is assign to the task (holiday in my plan) it’s
been saved and re-published and even the resource can see the task on his
time sheet. But every time he enters the hours they will not get updated and
they stay red. The project manager will never receive them.

I advise project managers not to reject any hours till I figure out what’s
the problem is.

What are we doing wrong?

Hi Rick,

Thanks for your replay. That’s exactly how I feel – “Am I missing
something?†If somebody else asked me about this I would thought that the
solutions that you offered is the most obvious. The problem is that it’s not
working. The tasks belong to the resources. The resources are assigned, the
plans had been saved and republished and yet the hours a still not coming
through.

Any other suggestions?
