task request won't open or delete

I'm using Office 2007 on XP SP2 - as are my colleagues - and one sent me a
task request and it won't open up for any viewing, nor can i delete it.
Preview Pane says (at top) "This item cannot be displayed in the Reading
Pane. Open the item to read its contents." It's just stuck in Outlook. Popup
says "Outlook cannot do this action on this type of attachment." I can move
it to "sent" folder, but not to "deleted" folder. It won't move to Tasks or
Calendar either.

Any ideas - at least to delete it?
