task schedule

OK, so I am new at project.
without linking tasks, how does project schedule out tasks?

If I create 2 resources. And then 3 tasks. each task is 10 days.
I assign 1 task to person 1
I asskign task 2 and 3 to person 2

Now on my gantt chart,
all 3 tasks are assigned for the first 2 weeks.
Without linking tasks, why does it not adjust task 3 to start when person 2
has time?
After task 2 is done?

Hi Greg,

To add to Trevor's good comments -- why do you not want to link
tasks to one another? If Task 2 is dependent upon Task 1 in either
a Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish, or
Start-to-Finish relationship, you should link them. If the tasks
are not related, then, as Trevor says, you can use the Resource
Leveling command to delay the start of one task until the resource
is no longer overallocated.

yes, I have a bunch of dev tasks. they can happen any time. not dependent
of each other.
