I am new to Project and I trying to add new tasks and view the Gantt
chart to see when these tasks are to be scheduled. I am working with
several resources. When I insert a new task it is always scheduled to
run concurrently with other tasks starting on the Project start date no
matter how over allocated a resource is. The added tasks are all
subtasks of a summary task. The project start date was several months
ago. I have set the "New Tasks" option under the 'Collaboration
Options - schedule' menu set to 'start on current date'. I have
also experimented with the task levelling fields and start fields but
it doesn't seem to make a difference. I have been able to level
resources after all the tasks are scheduled but it is still using the
project start date instead of the current date. How can I get Project
to schedule new tasks in the future when resources are free? Any help
would be appreciated.
