task status update

I have sent a weekly recurring task with a flag to 12 people. When each
person sends me a status update of "complete," should the status in my
Outlook update automatically as "complete" and the next task date appear? I
tried to update each task manually, but the item remained rain with the
current due date and a new due date did not pop up. Please advise. Thank
you.

If you use a single Task and assign to 12 people you cannot keep an updated
copy on your TaskPad. I gather this is because there is only a single %
complete field. If you need to micromanage this work, you'll need to make
and assign 12 separate Tasks.

Are you opening each Task Update that you receive? Outlook sucks the data
out of these updates when you open them, not if you just vie it in your
preview pane and delete it.

Hi Judy,

I am deperately trying to find out why the list of recurring tasks I've
assigned are not updating eventhough the assignee / owner has completed the
task. I have opened up the task update as suggested but no change in status.
It only seems to be a problem with recurring assigned task.

Thanks

Jennifer

Hey guess what - I tell people not to use recurring Tasks - they just
don't quite work the way we would like.

Sorry - can't help you - I have given up on them completely in current
versions.

I have a related question. I want to assign an activity to several people and
give it a due date. Later on I'd like to change the due date. I tried this
with tasks and assigning the task but once it is assigned, I no longer own it
and can't make changes that might not be overwritten. Also, changing the
date on my task list doesn't change the date on the tasks of those to which
it was assigned. Is there another feature in Outlook that would do what I'm
looking for?

nope. Tasks that are assigned belong to the new Owner(s). You can't
force changes on them after you assign.
