Task synchronization from PWA to Project Workspaces

Our organization is in the process of implementing Project Server 2007, and I
have been given the job of "figuring out how to use it". One oddity I have
noticed is that even though permissions, risks, and issues are synchronized
from PWA to the Project Workspaces, the task assignments are not. Either I
have misunderstood the purpose of "Tasks" in the workspaces, or something is
misconfigured.

I have left the check-box "checked" under "Project Workspace Provisioning
Settings" that allows it to sync with pwa. Any ideas?

You have, indeed, misunderstood the purpose of tasks in the Project
Workspace. This is available for the team to track tasks that are not
associated with the project plan. IME, very few customers use this task list
in the Project Workspaces.

In addition to Gary's sage comments, I usually recommend that they use the
Tasks feature in the Project Workspace as Action Items arising from team
meetings or status meetings related to the project in question. In fact,
refer to the following blog post about how to customize the Project
Workspace to change Tasks to Action Items:
