Task Updates Not Being Submitted

I hope somebody can help me with the issue I'm having of task updates
not being submitted for approval.

We're using Project Server 2007 w/ SP1. Two server configuration: 1
application/web server and 1 database server.

Tasks are being updated by either updating the task directly in "My
Tasks" or by importing the data from timesheets. After tasks are
updated a red exclamation mark appears beside the task and says
"Update has not been submitted". I then choose the task and click on
the "submit selected" button. Then I click on "My Tasks" again to
refresh the page and I still see the same red exclamation mark and
message.

Initially I thought the issue was only with selected users and on
specific tasks. But now it seems to affect all users and all tasks.

I do have a rule setup to automatically approve task updates, but
issue appears even when the rule has been deleted.

I don't see any errors in the queue or event log.

The issue occurs even when I update my own tasks in my own projects
From what I understand, if I'm the project manager, and I update my
own tasks, they should automatically be approved.

The issue appeared before the install of SP1 (I applied SP1 in the
hope that it would fix the problem, but that didn't happen).

Does anybody have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

can you see any error in the event log or the Project Server queue?
thanks

Unfortunately, I don't see any errors in the event log or in the PWA
queue.

Thanks

In case anybody is curious, or experiencing similar issues, I
determined what is causing the problem. It turns out there was a
corrupt task in the project template I am using to create my project
plans. I created an additional task in my template a few weeks ago
and since then any new projects based on that template wouldn't submit
updates properly.

I deleted that task from all projects based on that template and then
they started to behave normally.

Hope this helps anybody who runs into this problem.

How did you find the corrupt task? I am having exactly the same problem with
multiple projects and multiple users.

I discovered that the problem was related to the Status Manager. Assignments
had been created with the status manager being either themselves or someone
else who did not have the rights to accept task updates in PWA.

Added Status Manager column in Project Professional and changed to the
correct recipient of task updates.
