Task updates - PS 07

Trivikram

Hi...

I want know if there is a way to accept task updated for a certain time
period out of the submitted. For example, lets say a resource submitted
updates for 4 wks at a time and I want accept the last 3 wks & reject the 1st
week time for that resource.

Thanks in advance,
Trivikram.

Hi Tivikram,

Actually when you check the task approval page, you will see which tasks
have been updated when based on the actual hours worked. I can imaginge that
this would do the trick for you
Hope this helps

Hi... Marc, thanks for your time & the replies...

My problem is, resources dont submit time in a disciplined manner and they
do it randomly @ weekly or monthly as and when they find time & interest to
do it. This I receive the updates just before the cut-off date and it becomes
difficult for me to get the revised timesheets once I reject them. The idea
here is to approve / accept as much time as possible (i.e. weekwise) and
reject the problematic / doubtful weeks.

Thanks,
Trivikram.

Project Server 2007 does not allow you to accept part of an update and
reject another part of it. You will need to reject the entire update and
have the team member revise it as needed. This is not your real problem,
and I think you realize it. Your problem is your organization's "loosey
goosey" approach to team member reporting of progress. If team members are
allowed to randomly submit progress whenever they feel like it, then that is
the real problem that needs to be addressed. :) Hope this helps.

:) Hi trivikram,

Dale, as usual, pinpoints out exactly what your real issue is. Having said
this, I do fully understand your requirement and yes I agree it would be nice
to have more control over the approval and rejection, at the same time, if
you already have the issue that users submit and approve the tasks, you will
find that more technical complexity will introduce even more challanges in
regards to the process that should be upheld.

My recommendation is to introduce a striker submission and approval process
and govern this process appropriatly.
Hope this makes sense mate
