Task view working, project view not

B

Bainu

Hi all,
I've searched these archives and think i've done my best here, forgive
me I am new to project (and have done the faq)

My task number formula replicates the status field and displays
graphical indicators. The "0" line shows the project is late but when
I recreate this formula as a project one for PWA the formula gives me
a green ball (my stoplight for "on time"). Is there something I
should be doing with rollup or indicator crieteria? I've tried "no"
calculation thinking it's a straight translation from the project "0"
line to the PWA view but for some projects it's working and some not
(and I also did F9 before collaborating)

!!thanks a lot, any help is really really appreciated!!!

Hi Bainu,

can you post the actual formula you created. that would be most helpfull
Thanks

Hi Marc, thanks for answering.
IIf([% Complete]=100 Or [Finish]>=Now(),0,IIf([% Complete]<100 And
now()-[Finish]<10,1,IIf([% Complete]<100 And now()-
[Finish]<20,2,IIf([% Complete]<100 And now()-[Finish]>=20,3))))

I realize this formula is probably too long and can be collapsed
somehow but it works. This is the same formula for the task as well
as the project field. The stoplights are simple, under 10 equals
yellow, under 20 equals blue, 20 and over equals red

thanks!!

Hi Bainu,

from my understanding you are using Project Server 2007, you have created a
task custom field that displayes status date indicators. When you look at the
indicators you see that the 0 task displays "late", but when you created a
Project custom field ( usign the same formula) this indicator indicates that
the proejct is on time.

Can you tell me if MS Project Professional displays the same result than
Project Web Access?

If not which one displays the indicator correctly?
Have you ensured that you have ticked on the "inherit from summary task" etc
where you created the formula ( Within PWA)
sorry for the many questions, just need to make sure that we can find the
problem. Usually the traffic lights work just fine.

Hi Marc,
Sorry, no, first of all I am on Project Server 2003.

The Project Pro field is working fine. The formula with the
stoplights matches the default status column. Also, the "0' line in a
project shows red if any one task below in the entire project is red.
I used the "MAX" function to make sure of this.

It's PWA that differs from Project. The "0" line in the project
should be the one that reports into PWA. But if the project summary
is red, the PWA view is green. I also did graphical indictorars for
non-summary rows, project summary inherits. (I don't know why I
shouldn't just do project summary with inherit but it didn't seem to
take)
thanks again for your help!!

sorry, one other question.
in your last response you say:

but isn't a formula only created within project, checked out global?
