Taskbar click causes shutdown

When multiple windows are open (XP Pro), and Word 2002 is
selected from the taskbar, 8 out of 10 times, word will
just shut down. The current work-around is to ALT-TAB my
way back to Word from some any other app.
Have any of you had to deal with this?
Is there a fix?

Possibly this is related to a weird bug with Handwriting Recognition in
Windows XP. Go to the Control Panel, Regional settings and uninstall any
Handwriting Recognition that has been installed.
