Tasks and Links

Hi,
I currently have a project of 700 lines (tasks) in. The Planners here will
be adding another 400-500 line during this week. I read somewhere that the
limit is 1000 lines per project Schedule. Is this correct?
What is the limitations around the amount of lines that you can have in a
Project Schedule?
I also need to have a lot of Links in the "Central Plan" for the effective
rollup and reporting on this Schedule. What is the "best practice" for the
linking of tasks. We do not allow the saving of Master plans - for obvious
reasons, and I've had some nightmares involving links at previous client
sites.

Help would be appreciated!!!

According to the Help file in Microsoft Project Professional, the internal
limit for the number of tasks is 1,000,000. I am not aware of any real
world limit of only 1,000 tasks in an enterprise project, but I will gladly
invite others to share their experiences if this is the case.

If you are using Project Server 2003, you can safely save master projects in
the Project Server database, but you should never publish a master project.
If you wish to save master projects in the Project Server database, your
will need to ask your Project Server administrator to enable this permission
on the Server configuration page in PWA. To set dependencies between tasks
in different projects using a master project, refer to the following link:

Hope this helps.
