I am having a problem with Project Server 2003 that no matter what I try, I
am unable to fix. Multiple users (some users do not get this issue),
including myself, are redirected back to the Home Page in Project Web Access
(PWA) when they click on either Tasks or Projects. I have searched across
the 'net and there are some items that reportedly "fix" this issue, but they
have not worked here. Here are some details:
I properly configured the Proxy Server and its exceptions in Internet
Explorer (we are on IE 6 SP2). This has fixed an isolated issue of this
same problem about a year ago, but it didn't help here.
The Operating System is Windows XP SP2, so MDAC couldn't be unistalled or
downloaded. Therefore, we went to C:\WINDOWS\INF and right-clicked on
MDAC.INF and selected INSTALL. We inserted the WinXP SP2 CD when it asked
for it. It didn't fix the issue, even after a reboot.
There are some users who are not having this problem at all. It is not a
profile issue because a user who did not have a profile on my computer
logged in, but the problem still happened. The odd thing is that this same
user who could log onto her computer and access tasks and projects in PWA
without problems, logged into my computer (where the problem is happening)
and duplicated the issue I am having.
All of the above issues point to a client issue and not a server issue, but
I have run out of ideas to try. This issue just started yesterday out of
the blue. No patches have been installed on my client in a while so that
can't be it. Some patches were installed on the server, but they were
rolled back and didn't fix the issue (plus others can access it without a
problem as noted earlier).
We have a test server running the same version and I am able to access Tasks
and Projects successfuly on that server without problems from my computer
(the same computer where I get the issue). If the issue was in fact client
based (which I still think it is), I wouldn't think I could get to the test
server either, but I can.
It's very strange so I thought I would post it here to see if anybody out
there would have some ideas which I can try. Sorry for the length of this
message, but I wanted to give as much detail/background as I could (you can
blame that on my help desk background).
If you got down this far, then I thank you for your time and help!
