Tasks display twice

In Outlook 2007 all my tasks are displaying twice. They are not
duplicates in the sense that I can change one but not the other. If I
change one both change. If I delete one both are deleted.

How can I stop this behaviour?

Where are you seeing this? Are they duplicated in the Task folder? Ctrl+4

I open tasks using the icon on the lower left.

I tried using Ctr-4 and each task was only displayed once! Now it's ok
when I use the icon, too.

The resetting is another option I could have used if required.

Try the /resettodobar switch.

At start menu, run or Start search, type
outlook.exe /resettodobar
