Tasks for generic resources?

We have a number of generic resources eg:
engineer
senior engineer
CIO
etc.
These resources are NOT tied to a specific windows account (unlike
real people).
However tasks assigned to these resources appear in 'My Tasks' list -
for me personally!
Why?
This happenes whether or not I am the project owner....why?
It's very annoying - these aren't my tasks.
What governs who gets tasks for generic resources?

The reason why you have these resources in your "My task" is because you are
the status Manager on the task. What that essentially means is that you have
the abillity to update a task for another users ( this may be an external
user that does not have access to the system, hence the generic resource).

If you are not the person who should update this information but lets say
the Project Manager, then you can reassign the status manager for this tasks.
All you need to do is open the Gantt chart in MS Project and insert a column
called "Status Manager". From here you can use the drop down window of this
field to reassign the status manager to the approprioate resource.

hope this helps

Thanks Marc,
Just got back to this one.
I try changing the status manager - by I am the ONLY option!
ie I cant choose anyone else.
What determines who is a possible status manager for a task.
Al.
