Tasks from Calendar?

Is there a way to generate tasks automatically from a calendar item? For
example, on a birthday in the calendar, is it possible to have a task
automatically appear one week before to send a card?

You can drag an appointment into a Tasks folder and autocreate a new task
item. Other than that you'd need to use custom code.
