'Tasks' in Outlook 2007

a few days ago each task suddenly became duplicated including new tasks
added. Today this has now grown to 3 entries, included anything I add. If I
delete one it deletes all. I am totally baffled can anyone help please.

This has occurred occasionally when syncing between pcs with a pda. there is
software that i purchased to remove duplicates. It was relatively
inexpensive, $10 to $20 if I remember correctly.
