TASKS IN OUTLOOK

I would like to be able to enter tasks in the same format as the view that
appears like a spread sheet. Normally you hold shif + contrl and depress k
and you get a task. You type everything you need on page one, then ask for
detail, type what you need then click "catagory". Now you have to click
"assign to" to give the task to someone else. Wow, this takes a long time
(are you bored yet). All I want to be able to do is enter items in row
format, bang bang bang. When I am done I can push a button and it goes ahead
and sends out the assigns etc. If I have to do fancy things I woundn't mind
opening a task and adding the detail (time of day for example) but why not
make this a tool that can be used to assign tasks on a project (use catagory
as a project name) so that you can stay up to date with what the team is
doing on a particular project.

Sounds like you don't have the 'Show "new item" row' enabled for your view;
View-> Arrange By-> Custom...-> Other Settings-> Show "new item" row
