Tasks not visible

Hi,

Hope there is an answer to this.

I have a schedule which links into a number of other schedules, hence a
multitude of external tasks. At present there are gaps in the ID numebr
sequence indicating that there are tasks which are not being shown.

I hve no filters applied, either on the columns themselves or on the whole
project.

However I do have a number of task ID's which do not show. At present I
have task 14, followed by task 16, not ID15. I have a summary task 42
followed by a task (not under the summary task) ID 44, indicating that there
is a task ID 43 sitting under task 42 as a sub task.

I have tried rolling the project up and then shwoing all, I have tried
resetting all the filters. If I try "GoTo" and type in that ID number, an
error mesage comes up to say that "Project has searched the entire field and
did not find a match"

I find this bizzare, since it seems that the task does not exist (Project
cannot find the ID using the GotTo function, yet the ID number is missing
from the ID sequence.

Any thoughts most welcome.

regards

Do the following:

1. Open the project in question.
2. Click Tools - Options - View.
3. Select each of the items in the Cross Project Linking Options section.
4. Click the OK button.

The external tasks show now appear in your project. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thank you for your prompt response. The settings you mentioned are set that
way by default.

Any other thoughts?

Dale,

One more piece of information I have found. If I open the project without
showing the links to external projects, then the tasks are visible. As soon
as I open the dialog box with the links to external projects, some tasks
'disappear', and the ID cannot be seen nor found.
