I am trying to use the feature of 'paste special' paste as link, to create a file with all the milestones from all projects
Once I reopen my file, all the source files appear as unavailable. If I try to change to the source it tells me that the file is an invalid source
I have all the source files and destination file on the same directory
I am working with Project 2000

thank you

Francesca,
If paste links are set up and maintained with care they normally work
ok. However, they are prone to corruption and problems like you are
experiencing. If you really want to use paste links (see below for a
better alternative), make sure you link from the Finish field in the
source file to the Start field in the destination. After the links for
each source file are made, first save the source file and then the
destination file (links have a "tag" in each place). The same is true
when breaking a paste link. Use the "break link" button on the Links
window under the Edit menu and then save the source and destination.
Also, do not change the path of either file after the links are made -
sometimes the paste links get "confused".

A much better and more robust approach is to use external predecessors,
sometimes called "ghost links". Set up the mirrored milestones in the
master file and then use an external predecessor to link from the
source. There are several ways to make this type of link. Look in the
help file for more information.

Hope this helps.
